The Complete Oxygen Therapy Setup
Renting the main oxygen machine is only the first piece of the puzzle. To safely, hygienically, and comfortably administer medical oxygen to a patient, you absolutely need a specific set of essential accessories. Never compromise on the quality or sterility of these items.
Must-Have Medical Accessories
- Nasal Cannula: This is the most common and comfortable method of oxygen delivery. It's a lightweight, flexible tube with two soft prongs that rest just inside the nostrils. Crucially, it allows the patient to eat, drink, and talk normally while receiving therapy.
- Oxygen Face Mask: This is required if the doctor has prescribed a high flow rate, or if the patient naturally breathes primarily through their mouth rather than their nose.
- Humidifier Bottle: Continuous oxygen flow is incredibly dry and can severely irritate and crack the patient's nasal passages. A humidifier bottle attaches to the concentrator and bubbles the dry oxygen through sterile, distilled water, adding vital moisture before it reaches the patient.
- Fingertip Pulse Oximeter: A small, painless clip-on device used to constantly monitor the patient's blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and heart rate, ensuring the therapy is actually working.
A Critical Hygiene Note: For strict infection control, cannulas and masks should never be shared between people and should ideally be replaced every 2 to 4 weeks. Rent Oxygen India provides completely brand-new, factory-sealed accessories with every single rental.
